Helmut LAUTERWASSER studied church music, Musicology, ethnoMusicology and pedagogy. In 1998 he received his Ph.D. in Göttingen with a doctoral thesis about a collection of psalms settings from 1623. After having worked as a church musician and teacher he was a member of DKL (Das deutsche Kirchenlied, edition of church tunes) since 2000. In 2008 he joined the german RISM working-group in Munich. The focus of his publications lies on hymnology and the history of music from the 16th to the 19th century.
