Cesar Marino VILLAVICENCIO obtained the Soloist Diploma in recorder at Royal Conservatory, The Hague. Improviser, researcher and interpreter of Renaissance, Baroque and contemporary music. He completed his PhD (2008) at the University of East Anglia, UK, with the thesis “The Discourse of Free Improvisation. A Rhetorical Perspective on Free Improvised Music”, and a postdoctoral position at the University of São Paulo (2012). Presently he directs the Research Group on Renaissance and Contemporary Music supported by the São Paulo Research Foundation (Fapesp).
