Caroline L. ELLIOT is a PhD student at Royal Holloway studying the musical practices of early modern English convents in exile under the supervision of Dr. Stephen Rose. A graduate of Edinburgh University and Royal Holloway, she is currently based in Oxford, where she is active as a singer, conductor, composer, and part-time viola player. Her particular academic interests are focused around early modern uses of music (particularly vocal music) to construct power relationships, occupy space and regulate body politics.
