Carmen Julia GUTIÉRREZ obtained her BA in Musicology from the Universidad de Oviedo, in Romance Philology from the Universidad de Granada and she obtained her PhD from the University of Oviedo. She also specialized in Musical Paleography at the Scuola di Filologia e Paleografia Musicale of the University of Pavia (Italy). Her research focuses on medieval European music on which she has published numerous articles in specialized academic journals. She is currently Professor of Musicology at the Complutense University of Madrid.
